Anyone who enjoys a night out on Staten Island from time to time has surely been to Adobe Blues at least once or twice. Unfortunately, it was announced this past week that the New Brighton hot spot was being sold and would close its doors by the end of the weekend. Restaurant goers packed in to get their last meals and good times while they could. But in a surprising turn of events, the real estate transaction did not go through.
Jim Stayoch, current owner, named Julian Gaxholli as the buyer. Gaxholli owns other popular establishments around the island, such as Beso, Bayou, and Blue. It seems that he simply changed his mind at the last minute.
Stayoch wants it to be known that the space is still up for sale. He hopes that the next interested buyer will understand the special place that Adobe Blues held in the neighborhood and with its patrons, and that it might be preserved. Interested parties can contact him by calling 718-720-BLUE. No word as to what the selling price is, but it must be hefty considering the space and the area.
