Councilman Steven Matteo, founder of the New Dorp Merchants Group, with the help of the Staten Island Economic Development Corporation (SIEDC), announced a series of events which will take place on or around New Dorp Lane from April to June.
Speaking about New Dorp, Matteo said, "I have always believed that our commercial corridors are the anchors of our communities."
The Spring Series will consist of the following:
- "Eats and Beats" - A restaurant crawl featuring 16 restaurants and live music taking place April 19th from 2pm to 5pm. Admission is $10 per person.
- "Dog Day Afternoon" - Giving shoppers the chance to bring their pets along with them to New Dorp Lane, taking place May 17th, noon to 4pm.
- "Stroll Down Memory Lane" - Featuring oldies bands and a classic car show on June 25th from 6pm to 9pm.
Cesar Claro, SIEDC president, is excited about the launch of the series and expects the events will "draw new shoppers to the area and continue to help create a buzz in one of Staten Island's most important retail corridors."
