'Quiet' Dance Party Takes Place on Ferry

A group turned a regular ride on the Staten Island Ferry into a raging but silent dance party this past Saturday night.

The organizers, a group called Quiet Events, are responsible for planning no-noise parties at various spots around the city. The company complies party music mixes and allows participants to rent out wireless headsets to tune in so the music does not disturb onlookers. On Saturday night, there were about a hundred dancers in attendance, living it up on the boat without making any sound. The group leaders also act as tour guides, providing some fun facts and historical information about New York City over the headsets as the dancers enjoyed themselves.

What an ingenious way to engage fellow ferry riders, tourists, loners & New Yorkers who usually turn a deaf ear to unusual happenings! Wish I had been there. Thanks for sharing.
