Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis is inviting residents to pitch in and help clean up a very littered stretch of Hylan Blvd in the Bay Terrace area this Sunday, April 12th.
Malliotakis organized the cleaning event along with the Natural Resources Protection Association and the Bay Terrace Beautification Association. The clean-up area will be the length of Hylan Blvd between Keegans Lane and Buffalo Street, a popular site for dumping and littering where much trash has collected. Malliotakis herself lives in the area and has stated that the littered area "is a terrible eyesore, and reflects poorly on Staten Island and all of us who call it home." She encourages residents to be respectful of our community and dispose of garbage properly.
Volunteers should meet at 10am at the entrance to Gateway National Park at Buffalo Street. Since supplies may be in short supply, volunteers are also asked to bring gloves and garbage bags of their own.
