Emerson Hill - Staten Island, NY

The area of Emerson Hill is actually the name given to the northeastern part of Todt Hill, bordered to the north at the Staten Island Expressway and Grasmere to the east. It is named for Judge William Emerson, brother of famed 19th century poet Ralph Waldo Emerson. Emerson Hill is somewhat of a remote community, with private roads and unmanned gates at its entrances on Narrows Road and Richmond Road. In 1971, two large homes on Longfellow Avenue served as Casa Corleone during the filming of The Godfather. Because of its location and elevation, homes here offer premiere views of the island’s hillsides and the lower New York Bay area. This is one of the most private hills on Staten Island whereas not many people know about it as much as Todt Hill and Lighthouse Hill. This gives it a more quiet reputation.
