Congratulations to the Mid-Island Little League Mid-Atlantic champions!  They played spectacularly into this year’s Little League World Series and were honored by a pep rally at their baseball field in Travis with fans lining the streets as their bus returned from PA.  The Mets honored the team at Citi Field on Sunday, inviting them to warm ups and batting practice.  This Friday, 8/31, the Staten Island Yankees and Empire Outlets will honor the team at the Yankees game against Vermont where each player will receive a $1,000 gift card to Empire Outlets.  If you would like to be part of the festivities, you can purchase tickets at https//groupmatics.events/event/MidIsland or call the box office at 718-720-9265 and mention Mid-Island Little League.  $5 from…

Did you experience the Sandy Ground Festival this weekend and taste their special "secret" sauce?

Did you visit the Noble Museum and participate in the Sea Shanty Session or  have fun at the 11th Annual Art by the Ferry Festival or finally learn how to cycle at the FREE Bicycling Class? What about Every Thing Goes Book Store and Cafe?  Big sales going on at ETG stores!  Picked up new books for my grandchildren and mysteries for me.  Enjoyed lunch with my friend and then strolled over to the Every Thing Goes Thrift & Vintage Clothing shop at 140 Bay St.  Lots of great finds! Check out their website--www.etgstores.com

I received a number of emails from my gentle readers with good guesses naming the parks/playgrounds I posted two weeks ago. The 1st park: The abandoned remains of a building and chimney in the Greenbelt.  Credit for photo taken by Diane Darconte while on a hike. (www. Sigreenbelt.org) The 2nd: Allison Pond Park abutting Prospect, N. Randall and Brentwood Avenues in Randall Manor.

The 3rd: Alice Austen House and Museum located at 2 Hylan Blvd.

The 4th: Skyline Park and playground located on the corner of Prospect Ave. and Clyde Pl. and where you can view the Manhattan Skyline.

The 5th: Goodhue Park on the corner of Lafayette and Brighton Avenues.  The nature walk where this photo was taken was led by Clay Wollney and was phenomenal.  I highly recommend getting back to nature and taking a hike.
