The competition is the first step toward Miss America. Women ages 17-24 enter to win not only the title, but also academic credit and funding for college and grad school. The Miss America Organization is one of the nation's largest educational opportunities for young women. Fun fact: the last three winners of the Miss America title have all hailed from New York!
Tonight, twelve hopefuls will take the stage at the College of Staten Island. Two winners will be chosen, Miss Staten Island 2015 and Miss Richmond Country 2015, each will advance to the Miss New York Pagaent next year, and each will earn $2,500 in scholarships. There are also monetary prizes given for categories such as talent, interview, and congeniality.

The teen winners will each receive a $500 savings bond and will advance to the Miss New York's Outstanding Teen competition. All of the scholarship funds have been donated by a mix of local political figures and other community members, some in memorial of lost loved ones.
Tickets may still be available! Prices range from $20 balcony seats to $25 orchestra seats. Contact Victoria at (718) 494-1133 for more information.
Best of luck to all of the young ladies! Shine bright!
