The weather this past weekend was balmy and perfect for a Bird and Nature walk, planting tulips at the Marine Hospital Quarantine Cemetery, volunteering at the NYCDEP Beach Floatable Program at Great Kills, exploring Crooke’s Point, enjoying the HONK! for Staten Island Art Parade in St. George or attending any of the Museum open houses. The 29th Annual Staten Island JAZZ Festival, sponsored by the Universal Temple of the Arts (UTA) was a hit at the Music Hall in Snug Harbor on Saturday.  Did you make any new friends? The Asian Art Exhibit Opening is Saturday at 10 at the Staten Island Museum at Snug Harbor, 1000 Richmond Terr., Building A. Celebrate, taste, make art and cheer, as the newest exhibition of contemporary art and exquisite sculptures, paintings and ritual objects from ancient India, Tibet, Nepal, China, Japan, Thailand is unveiled. The Fall Fair and Pet Adoption takes place on Saturday from 10-3 at The Reformed Church of Huguenot Park, 5475 Amboy Rd. There will be over 30 vendors with new and gently used items. On Saturday at 6:30, attend the annual Halloween Flashlight Cemetery tour of Staten Island Fountain Cemetery, 1632 Richmond Terr. at the corner of Alaska Street. For more than 100 years, stories of local Staten Island spirits who reside at this location have been passed down through the generations. Did you reserve your produce bounty yet?  Every Tuesday from 4-6 at Goodhue Center, 304 Prospect Ave. (up the street from St. Peter’s Boys H.S.) the Children’s Aid Society presents the “Go Healthy Food Box Program”, where a sack of freshly harvested New Jersey produce will be available for $10.  This week, we received a recipe and samples of Fall Vegetable Chili.  My food box included: Butternut squash, tomatoes, corn, suntan peppers, jalapeno peppers, onions, cilantro, cabbage and Red Rome apples.  Check it out on Facebook--https://www.facebook.com/groups/CASGoHealthy/!
