Did you attend Living with Deer on Saturday at the Greenbelt Nature Center. During a recent trip to Colorado, I spotted four bucks just crossing the street. They are huge up close! Notice how they look you right in the eye.
Then, while driving home on a secondary road at night, I noticed a dark blur in front of my car. When I high-beamed the blur, it turned out to be a bunch of baby deer just hanging out in the middle of the road. Where was Mommy?! The deer population on Staten Island has become just as rampant. Please—don’t feed the deer!

At the Christmas fair, the president of Cross Road Foundation, Joann Gilmartin, shared information about this organization. The Cross Road Foundation is a Pregnancy Resource Center located on Staten Island, committed to assisting women and families who are facing unplanned pregnancies by providing them accurate information about their options and by offering them ongoing support. Take an Adult Afternoon Hike: Fall Hike/LaTourette on Wednesday from 1:30–3:30 at Greenbelt Nature Center in Blood Root Valley, 700 Rockland Ave. at Brielle Ave. Enjoy the picturesque views of the park as we point out a few of the unique features that make it special. The pace of the hike will be determined by the pace of the group. Good for ages 18+.
Bring the kiddies ages 8-14 to Lego Club on Wednesday at 4 at the Todt Hill-Westerleigh Library, 2550 Victory Blvd. The library will supply Legos, while you provide imagination. All materials must stay at the library so bring a camera to document your creations!
Children 3+ will enjoy Family Storytime/Read Aloud on Wednesday at 4 at the New Dorp Library, 309 New Dorp Ln. hearing books read aloud, finger plays, action rhymes and coloring.

Staten Island North Shore 'Greenbelt Crescent' Black Friday Walk takes place on Friday from 12–2. Join an NYC Park arborist/naturalist for a guided tour of Staten Island's North Shore "Greenbelt": Jones Woods, Goodhue Park, Allison Pond and Snug Harbor. These parks and natural areas create a nearly 100 acres North Shore "Greenbelt Crescent" from New Brighton to Livingston. The easy to moderate walk is approximately 3 miles round trip. Meet at Franklin Ave. and Arnold St. in Jones Woods Park.
