YES, SPRING IS ON ITS WAY! We have had ice, sleet, snow the last couple of days and weeks but also weather in the high 40’s. Not your typical winter, I know, but it gives us some hope of warmth in the near future. Of course, the other surprise was a quick snow storm which gave my grandkiddies a chance to shovel snow with their Dad and build a snowman. Ladders for Leaders is a nationally recognized program that offers high school and college students the opportunity to participate in paid professional summer internships with leading corporations, non-profit organizations and government agencies in New York City. The “Mommy and Me”, “Daddy and Me” or “My Favorite Adult and Me” Staten Island Zoo Cub Club program begins Wednesday 2/27 from 11-12:30 and has six sessions available to register for. Each session is a different topic but follows a similar format that your child will love. You can register for as many sessions as you would like, but there is a 15% discount if you register for all six sessions. The Zoo is located at 614 Broadway. On Wednesday from 1:30–3:30, become more familiar with various areas of the Greenbelt and Staten Island Parks as you participate in an Adult Afternoon Hike at Southwest LaTourette (end of Old Mill Rd.) while enjoying picturesque views and discovering unique features. Teens: Come with your friends to honor and celebrate the life of Rosa Parks and the Fight for Civil Rights: Mosaic Making Workshop on Thursday, 2/28 at 4 at the West New Brighton Library, 976 Castleton Ave. Using online educational resources, you will learn about Mrs. Park's life and legacy, as well as about the Civil Rights Movement. You will also work together on a collaborative mosaic poster of Mrs. Parks to be displayed in our teen room.

Together you and your timekeeper can build a freestanding clock with easy-to-read numbers, movable hands and a storage tray to house reminders or important trinkets.
