With the Holidays fast approaching, it’s good to get an idea about some of the fun Christmas events that will be happening in the coming weeks. There’s a little something for everyone on the island, and all the possibilities make it easy to start your own family Christmas tradition. So whether you’re interested in a tree lighting ceremony or a Santa Claus puppet show, you’re sure to find something fun to do with the whole family.

Christmas in Richmond Town and Traditional Tree Lighting

The holiday season in Historic Richmond Town kicks off with the traditional tree lighting on December 2nd. The festivities start at 10am and feature caroling, ornament making, horse and wagon rides, tours of the village, and, of course, pictures with Santa. The day wraps up with the annual tree lighting ceremony at 5pm.

Candlelight Tours of Historic Richmond Town

Spend another holiday-themed evening in Historic Richmond Town, and learn a little history along the way when you participate in a candlelight tour of the area. These tours are offered on December 15th from 5pm to 8:30pm, and reservations are required so be sure to plan ahead. For more information or to make reservations, call (718) 351-1611, Ext 281.

Daughters of St Paul Christmas Benefit Concert

Another great Staten Island Christmas tradition is the annual benefit concert put on by the Daughters of St Paul in the Hilton Garden Inn on South Avenue. The program features lots of traditional holiday favorites, as well as some more contemporary pieces, and all proceeds go towards supporting the Daughters of St Paul. This year, the show is on November 29th at 6pm, so be sure to get your tickets ahead of time.
