Today, we start a new blog series titled "Neighborhood Spotlight." In this series, we will dedicate a blog post to highlighting some of the neighborhoods around Staten Island and talking about some fun and interesting things to visit there!
In today's "Neighborhood Spotlight" we will be talking about the south shore neighborhood of Annadale.Â
History
Annadale was originally the location of a seaside post office and has it's own location on the Staten Island Rail Road. It's was given it's name in honor of Mrs. Anna S. Seguine in 1860. The Seguine's were of French descent, and one of the oldest Staten Island families. Joseph Seguine was a fifth generation Huguenot who worked as a farmer, shipping merchant, and industrialist. His home on 440 Seguine Avenue is a city landmark.Â

Things To Do Around Annadale
Annadale boasts lots of interesting things that are in or very close to the area. One attraction that's near Annadale is Blue Heron Park. Blue Heron Park is a beautiful, open, green space with lots of wildlife. It's regarded by many as "one of the most beautiful parks on Staten Island." And, they host public events all year round!
On top of parks, Annadale also has lots of great restaurants. One of the most notable is probably "Annadale Terrace." Once known as the Annadale Diner, the new location is directly next to the old place, but is significantly fancier, has higher quality food and service, and is great for anything from date night to a bridal shower!
