How many of you attended the Staten Island Philharmonic performance of “The British are Coming...Again!” on Saturday at the Conference House or on Sunday at Alice Austen House Museum?    Conducted by Maestro Russell Houser, CW4, US Army Bandmaster, Ft. Lewis, Washington, music selections included The Beatles, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Queen and Adele.  While we awaited Hurricane Hermine’s wrath (which never arrived), the weather was perfect for listening to the fabulous music and the glorious singing group, “Voices of Experience” (formerly Helluva Choir).  We were even encouraged to sing along with the familiar songs.  By the way, if you were as impressed as I was with Voices of Experience, they meet Thursday afternoons from 1-3 p.m. at the Staten Island Museum in Snug Harbor, 1000 Richmond Terr. Under the leadership of Carolyn Clark, the group is always looking for nice people who are willing to learn songs—old and new!
