Chestnuts roasting on an open fire? Almost. Fill your glass candle holders with chestnuts, walnuts, and any other nut you please. The nuts will add a decorative touch and the heat from the candle should give off a light aroma of toasted nuts throughout your home. *Just make sure you use an unscented candle, in case the candle scent doesn't mix with the smell of nuts.

Ice skates are a great reminder of the season any particular religious connotation. Dig out that old pair out from the attic and stuff them with your favorite holiday-themed small decor, like pine leaves, pine cones, holly, or anything else you can think of. Hang them on the door in place of a wreath or on a lonely wall.
