WEEKEND EVENTS ON STATEN ISLAND (10/31-11/4/18)

Posted by Joan Coogan on Tuesday, October 30th, 2018 at 7:10pm

Before I tell you about the upcoming events, let me remind you that Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend at 2 a.m. on Sunday 11/4. You should turn your clocks back an hour before you retire on Saturday night. (Fall Back, Spring Ahead!) Your Smart Phones will automatically adjust the time.  If you don’t want to be late or miss the events on Sunday, remember to adjust your clocks.  Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t remind you to change the batteries in your smoke or carbon monoxide detector.

Happy Halloween! Following are the final series of Halloween decorations shared for the year.

People ask me, “How can I receive the “Weekend Events” blog.  If you enjoy reading my “Weekend Events on Staten Island” and would like to be my Facebook friend, you know what to do—friend request.  If you would prefer to be on my mailing list, please email joan.coogan@gmail.com or call or text me at 646-258-9696; I will forward it to you each week.  Nevertheless, please do me the honor of SHARING my blog with your friends, either on Facebook (click “Share” underneath the blog) or on the Gillani Homes site.

What did you do this week?  Did you attend the “Pretty Monsters” for Kidz at the Richmondtown Library or their event at the Port Richmond Library or The Great Big Staten Island Challah Bake at Young Israel or any of the other Halloween events throughout Staten Island?

Get familiar with the Greenbelt and local parks with Adult Afternoon Hikes at Greenbelt Nature Center in Blood Root Valley, 700 Rockland Ave. at Brielle Ave. on Wednesday from 1:30-3. The length of each hike will be determined by the size and pace of the group.  Call (718) 351-3450 or email naturecenter@sigreenbelt.org for starting locations.

Presented by Borough President Oddo and Councilman Joe Borelli, bring the family to the Halloween Hoopla on Wednesday from 2-5 at Bloomingdale Park, Ramona & Lenevar Avenues. Trick or Treating, pony rides, spooky photo spots, Bubble Zone, sidewalk chalk, inflatable attractions, costume parade, live music and more.  Fun for the whole family! Following are photos from past years.
