Was last weekend festive for you?  Did you sing along with all the holiday songs at St. Peter’s Girls and Boys H.S. Alumni Christmas Concert?  Did you join the Preservation League of Staten Island at their Holiday Party or purchase art work from the Snug Harbor Studio Artists? 

Beginning tonight, Friday, 12/12, and continuing through Sunday, 12/14 from 6-8, experience a live Nativity at Salem Evangelical Church at 644 Clove Rd.  In addition to the Nativity scene with costumed actors, live animas and a petting zoo, there is continuous Christmas caroling led by the Salem choir.  Inside, the guests can experience more live Christmas music, homemade cookies, hot chocolate and a time of quiet meditation in the sanctuary.  Call 718-442-7740 or visit www.salemchurchnyc.org for information.  

Friday, 12/12, 7:00 p.m. through 12/14, “The Christmas Show” returns to the St. George Theater.  A two-hour family celebration that features a cast and crew of some 150, mostly volunteers from Staten Island.  Proceeds benefit the St. George Theater Restoration.  Call 800-745-3000 or ticketmaster.com or the Theater’s box office at 718-442-2900 for tickets. 

At Clay Pit Pond State Park on 2351 Veterans Rd. West, take part in the annual wreath making demonstration and then make your own wreath to take home on Saturday, 12/13.  Call 718-605- 3970 for reservations. 

The Natural Science Club, ages 8-12 will meet with Clay Woolney at Blue Heron Nature Center, 222 Poillon Ave. Saturday from 2-3:30. on “Signs of Life/Winter Survival.  Call 718-067-3542 for more information. 

On Saturday, children dropping by the St. George Library at 5 Central Ave. can get a free book and a pair of pajamas between 10:00 a.m. and noon.  To be eligible, visitors must apply for a library card or replacement library care on site.  Proof of identification and proof of address is required.  

Also on Saturday, Son Rise Faith Church at 2000 Richmond Ave. welcomes children ages infant to 15 who are underprivileged to join them in a Christmas celebration.  Gifts will be distributed, face painting and lunch will be served.  For information, call Pastor Judy at 718-761-6259. 

Let’s not forget all the pets that are looking for homes.  Saturday you can visit PETCO in Charleston Shopping Center for cat and dog adoptions from noon-3.  At PETCO on 2795 Richmond Ave., New Springville, from noon-4 as well as at Petsmart, 1520 Forest Ave. from 2-5 on Saturday and 1-4 on Sunday.

 On Saturday, 5:30 p.m., take part in a candlelight tour of Historic Richmondtown, a journey of 300 years of tradition and discover how American’s most festive season came to be.  Call 718-351-1611 for reservations and tickets. 

Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m., enjoy the Staten Island Moravian Christmas Vespers at the New Dorp Moravian Church on 2205 Richmond Rd. Traditionally, a sweetened bun and coffee is served to the visitors in the pews.  All are welcome to attend; admission is Free. 

On Sunday, 12/14, the New York Choral Society will present Christmas Around New York at the Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden.  For tickets, call 718-425-3504 or visit snug-harbor.org
