It looks as if my favorite time of year has arrived—Spring!  I strolled through the garden in the back and front yards with my grandchildren admiring the various flowers, herbs and veggies that we have planted or which have reappeared from last year.  We also planted our starter vegetables that we had begun from seed inside.  My son and grandson set up a Topsy-Turvy strawberry planter in the front yard.  Hopefully, it will grow and we will have yummy fruit to eat.  We also have water recycling barrels attached to our drain pipes to recapture water to use in the garden.

Started working on my garden which I’m happy to say is blooming nicely. 

Have you signed up for one of the Community Gardens in your neighborhood?  Did you attend the 2015 Daffodil Festival in Faber Park or participate in the Forest Restoration at High Rock?   Did you make any new friends this week or learn a new skill? 

On Saturday, 4/25 at 1:00, come out and join Red Storm Drum & Dance Troupe in celebrating Native American Culture at the new Heritage Park, Blissenbach Marina, Richmond Terrace.  There will be plenty of traditional story telling and audience participation.  A teepee and artifacts from Staten Island will be on site.

If you are looking for something fun to do with the entire family, don’t miss the 8th Annual St. George Day which will take place tomorrow, Saturday, April 26 from Noon to 7:00 p.m. at Tompkinsville Park, at the intersection of Victory Blvd. and Bay Street where St. George and Tompkinsville meet (a mere 3 blocks from the Staten Island Ferry). 

To celebrate Earth Day and community arts, you will find plenty of activities, exhibits, arts, crafts, entertainment, to participate in.  Check out the Kids craft stations, interactive craft fair, live street performances throughout the day and especially the "Free Store" where you can give and take free goods to repurpose, recycly, reuse.
