Broadway in the Boros returned to Staten Island at the Empire Outlets in St. George presenting performances by the current cast and musicians from “Beetlejuice” and “Chicago”.  I grabbed the first available seat near the photo booth so was able to see all the actors before they went on. The Mayor’s Office of Media & Entertainment organizes this event each year. We participated in trivia contests, and a number of tickets to the shows were awarded to those winners. The Annual Conference on Aging last Friday at the Joan & Alan Bernikow JCC was informative and helpful.  Sessions on physical, emotional, creative, cognitive and long-term wellness, as well as sessions aimed to combat memory loss and even tap dancing, were held. Free hearing, vision and BMI screenings were performed by medical professionals. We enjoyed a healthy lunch with the chorus and the band entertaining the crowd.

Congratulations to the Mid-Island Little League Mid-Atlantic champions!  They played spectacularly into this year’s Little League World Series and were honored by a pep rally at their baseball field in Travis with fans lining the streets as their bus returned from PA.  The Mets honored the team at Citi Field on Sunday, inviting them to warm ups and batting practice.  This Friday, 8/31, the Staten Island Yankees and Empire Outlets will honor the team at the Yankees game against Vermont where each player will receive a $1,000 gift card to Empire Outlets.  If you would like to be part of the festivities, you can purchase tickets at https//groupmatics.events/event/MidIsland or call the box office at 718-720-9265 and mention Mid-Island Little League.  $5 from…
