Did you bring your “bouncing babies”, toddlers, children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews to one of the many Story Time events at the libraries this week or just set them on your lap to read in your own space and at your own pace?  There is nothing more comforting than reading to a child who is attentive, excited about turning the pages, excited about each part of the story and what comes next. My favorite memories were reading to my son, niece, nephew, grandchildren and accompanying them to the library reading and craft sessions.  The librarians are adept at keeping their attention piqued and afterwards engaging the kiddies in a craft activity.  Don’t miss out on this special bonding opportunity with your children.  Visit the New York Public Library site:…

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my gentle readers!  I pray you rang in the New Year 2019 with people you love and care about.  Two years ago, I posted lyrics from a Tim McGraw song, “Humble and Kind” written by Lori McKenna which always touches my soul especially the last paragraph.  “Don't take for granted the love this life gives you, When you get where you're going don't forget turn back around, And help the next one in line, Always stay humble and kind.”  If only we could use this mantra in our every day lives……..

2018 brought much joy, two new baby girls born into our family, and heartache, a number of our loved ones passed away.  Some health issues and family issues occurred that we faced head-on.  You can make resolutions, promises and goals, but when…

I pray, my gentle readers, that your New Year’s Eve celebrations were enjoyable and shared with people you love and care about.  I attended a party (the first in many years) and had fun with my family and friends of the hosts and watching the children of different ages entertaining each other.  It was wholesome, and most of us lasted till midnight.

It is always emotional when the clock strikes midnight as I fight to hide my tears. What will my life be like and that of my family? Who will be around, who won’t? Our family will have a wedding in May and a birth in June, so those are two blessed events.  I predict 2017 will be great and I will only think pleasant, positive thoughts!  Will you make resolutions,…

How are you doing on your New Year resolutions?  I want to share one of my goals for 2015.  On Monday, I began the Sweathogs training with Vinny Zaloom at the Staten Island Board of Realtors.  I'm part of a winning team--“The A-Listers” consisting of real estate professionals of varied ages with varied experience.  After a 4 1/2-hour session, we left with training/mentoring, much enthusiasm, the tools to build a business plan, improve our work habits and as a team, to encourage each other to list and sell real estate.  We were told to identify our goals on a 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper.  How is that for an opportunity?  Is your goal a world class cruise around the world with family, a new home, Harvard tuition for a gifted grandchild or that much-dreamed-…

Have you made any New Year resolutions?  As a real estate broker, each year I resolve to work harder, list and sell more real estate properties, become more organized in my every day life, spend more time with my family, become more tolerant and make more money.  As you all know, money isn’t everything.  Life becomes easier, but it does not solve all our problems. An important part of identifying and stating your goals should be to write it down on a piece of paper.  Also, an important part of your goals, i.e. starting that diet, returning to the gym, stop smoking, is to verbalize it.  Each year, I type in bold print, FULL CAPS, my goals for the New Year.  This Monday 1/5 at 9:30 a.m., I will begin the Sweathogs training program at the Staten Island Board…

Hang onto your tree just a little bit longer if you can! The "holidays" are officially over, but there's no rush in taking down your tree just yet.

Wait until sometime between Monday, January 5th and Friday, January 16th. That is the Department of Sanitation's special collection period for discarded Christmas trees. Be sure to remove all tree stands, ornaments, lights, and other decorations, and place the tree curbside. All of the collected trees will be chipped into mulch, which will be distributed to parks, playgrounds, and gardens throughout the city.

For a more hands-on approach to recycling your tree, bring it to the NYC Parks & Recreation Mulchfest! The same concept applies, remove all decorations first, and watch your tree be chipped into…
