The 9/11 Memorial Ceremony held at the Postcards Memorial at the St. George Esplanade was touching and heartfelt. The speeches, especially those of our esteemed Borough President James Oddo, brought us back to that fateful day, how we came together as one as a Nation, State, City, Island. We remembered all those who died, and those who are still suffering from diseases post 9/11. During the ceremony, two people were overcome by the heat and the EMT’s responded immediately. We were reminded at that moment how valuable our first responders are—empathy, heroism, saviors. WE WILL NEVER FORGET!  Below are photos from that evening.

Did you participate in the 'Touch and Feel' Tour of the Colonial Herb Garden at the Historic Conference House and learn about the many fragrant, culinary and health beneficial plants that are easy to grow and use, volunteer to help clean and beautify Westerleigh Park or make a rag doll at the Crafting Cloth Dolls workshop at the Mont Sec House? Did you take the family to one of the Movies Under the Stars? We are so lucky on Staten Island to have so many free events!

Thanksgiving is on Thursday!  Will you watch the Macy’s Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade on TV?  Will you host family and friends to celebrate the day?  Will you serve dinner to those who are less fortunate?  Do you feel fine just doing NOTHING and get annoyed with friends who insist you come to their house?!  Tell me what kind of side dishes you will cook; do you have a pasta dish, a specific cultural dish or multiple courses of food.  I’d love to know what your Thanksgiving Day table looks like—will you share pictures with me next week. 

Have you had a chance to enjoy FALL?  I have raked way too many leaves at this juncture but love the exercise. I thank the DSNY for their speedy pick up!  More photos of the FALL!
