The 8th Annual Polish Festival was a success, and the Gillani Homes family enjoyed meeting so many customers, clients, new friends and many of my gentle readers.  I want to thank all of you who stopped by our booth.  Below are photos from the Festival.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 








Boardwalk Days-Give Back Wednesdays begins today, Wednesday, 6/29 at 5 at the South Beach Dolphin Fountain at Fr. Capodanno Blvd and Sand Ln.  Give­-Back Wednesdays is a program where representatives of local non­-profit organizations are invited to set up a table and share information about their services with the many visitors to South Beach each week. Some 25 agencies are slated to appear this summer, conducting demonstrations, offering giveaways, and speaking with visitors about how their particular organization might benefit a friend or family member. Summer Reading Kickoff takes place today at 2 at the Mariners Harbor Library, 206 South Ave. Join your friends to the Kick-Off which includes snacks, face painting and henna tattoos. Don't forget to stay for the magic show "Abracadabra" with Children’s Magician Evan Paquette at 3. As a special treat, after the 40-minute interactive magic show, Evan leads a short hands-on workshop for the kids to test their own magical abilities.

Read Aloud/ Picture Book Time for ages 3 and up is today at 4 at the New Dorp Library, 309 New Dorp Ln.  Enjoy hearing books read aloud, finger plays, action rhymes and coloring.

Ocean Breeze Night Run begins tonight at 7:00 at the Midland Beach Boardwalk, Fr. Capodanno Blvd. at Jefferson Ave.  Start and Finish at the Franklin D. Roosevelt Splash Plaza (parking located by Father Capodanno & Seaview Ave.). This scenic 2-mile course is designed for runners of all skill levels. Don’t miss the Fireworks tonight Wednesday at 9 and every Wednesday through 8/31 as part of Boardwalk Days.  From 5-9 on the South Beach Boardwalk at the Dolphin Fountain and Sand Lane, enjoy music by DJ and other entertainment along with sports, fun and fitness programs for all ages. The Boardwalk Grill is open, Uncle Louie G’s ices are cooling, the cotton candy and popcorn carts are ready to roll and warm weather fun is just getting started at the boardwalk.  For info on events, visit http://boardwalkdays.com/fireworks

Participate in a Health and Information Fair for seniors, adults, family and friends on Thursday, 6/30 from 10-1 near the Turtle Fountain at Midland Beach Boardwalk, (Jefferson Ave. and Fr. Capodanno Blvd.), Sponsored by Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis and SIUH, FREE health screenings will be available as well as giveaways, music, Zumba and face painting by Bubbles Playhouse, snacks, Italian Ice, Bounce House, Rock Wall. On Friday, 7/1 at the Garibaldi-Meucci Museum, 420 Tompkins Ave., enjoy a joint art exhibit  by the modern artists Palma Mingozzi and June Palo, whose colorful and thought-provoking pieces combine abstract concepts with blithe techniques. NAR ANON: Saturday Serenity will be held on Saturday, 7/2 at 10 at Holy Family Church, 366 Watchogue Rd. NAR ANON provides fellowship for the family and loved ones affected by someone's addiction to drugs. Attend the Sunday Boardwalk Concerts, Sunday, 7/3 and every Sunday through 9/4 from 3-8 at the Boardwalk Café, 300 Fr. Capodanno Blvd.  From country to classic rock, jazz to show tunes, an Elvis Extravaganza to a rocking Bruce Springsteen tribute band, the musical lineup offers something for everyone. Bring a beach chair or spread a blanket out on the beach to enjoy performances with the mighty Verrazano Bridge as a backdrop. The 88th Annual Huck Finn Fishing, tournament & Costume Contest will take place on Monday, 7/4 at 8:00 a.m. at Willowbrook Park, Eton Pl.  The AE Zimmer Youth Conservation Program of Staten Island will once again be sponsoring our Huck Finn Fishing Tournament and Costume Contest for children ages 5 to 14. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and fishing will commence at 9. All bait and tackle will be supplied and all participants will receive a free bamboo fishing rod to keep. The 106th Annual Travis 4th of July/Independence Day Parade takes place Monday at 12:30 beginning at the Showplace Entertainment Center, 141 E. Service Rd.  For info, call 718-477-2695.

The Staten Island Philharmonic Concert & Fireworks will entertain on Monday from 6-11 at Alice Austen House Museum, 2 Hylan Blvd.  They will perform "American Salute" at 6 p.m., followed by viewing of citywide fireworks displays. 

On Monday at 11, join Staten Island OutLOUD for a community reading and conversation on the Declaration of Independence at the historic Conference House, 298 Satterlee St. (at the southern tip of Hylan Blvd.  At the historic Fort Wadsworth at 2, join Staten Island OutLOUD to read and share ideas on the Declaration of Independence.  Rain or shine (if it rains the event will be indoors).  PLEASE BRING LAWN CHAIRS!
