Formerly known as the ING NYC Marathon, this year's race is sponsored by TCS, or Tata Consultancy Services, an IT, consulting, and business solutions firm. This year marks the first of an eight-year tenure with TCS as the primary sponsor.

The 26.2-mile annual event has taken place on the first Sunday in November since 1970. The race commences at Fort Wadsworth, near the approach to the Verrazano Bridge. As Staten Island is sometimes the "forgotten borough," the race's starting point attracts runners and supporters from all over New York City, the country, and even the world. This offers these tourists a rare glimpse of a borough they otherwise may have never visited.

The newly formed New Dorp Merchants Group's mission is simple- to create an influx of shoppers in order to fill the vacancies. Once a bustling retail center, New Dorp Lane has fallen victim to competiton from popular shopping destiations like the Staten Island Mall. It is the Merchant Group's hope that more will join the fold of over ten new businesses that have opened in the past year.  The group will soon incorporate into a non-profit called the New Dorp Local Development Corporation and has big plans to set in motion.

Have you ever wondered what the inside of the beautiful and historic homes at Confrence House Park look like? This weekend is your best chance for a coveted peek inside. This weekend tours will be available to the public through NYC's Open House New York Weekend.

This Saturday and Sunday from 1pm-5pm, the 12th annual events offeres the opportunity to explore the inside of the Conference House, the Biddle House and the Rutan-Beckett House. Visitors can also explore the exterior of the Ward House which is not currently open to the public. Tottenville's Conference House, also known as Billop Manor, a 300 year old historic Staten Island landmark will bring some theatrical scares this October. The house is the setting for local playwright Joe Simonelli's thriller entitled "The Haunting of Billop House" whos writing was inspired by legends of a haunted Conference House. The four character play, with the house itself serving as the fifth, will be staged in the basement. The story follows a new caretaker who is intrigued by the mysterious connection she feels to the house.
