On Wednesday, I accompanied my grandchildren to an interactive musical production featuring Presley and Melody at the Tottenville LibraryThey sing

 

 

 

 

(with words to the songs on a screen so all can sing along), dance and include every child in their production by sharing props—rainbows, blow-up guitars, pom-poms, smiley face paddles.

Did you purchase a Koi at the Tri-State ZNA Koi Show at Snug Harbor this past weekend?  One of my gentle readers, Cecilia, submitted photos from the show that her daughter took.  Never realized how beautiful these fish are.  Now, if I only had a backyard pond. . .

Did you try kayaking with Kayak Staten Island last Saturday or ride the “Bueno Cruise”?  Did you taste the secret special sauce at the Sandy Ground Festival or attend “Midsummer Night’s Dream” at High Rock?  It was a perfect weather weekend to be outdoors, experience nature and do some people watching.  I snapped some photos this weekend while admiring neighborhood gardens,

Did you meet your friends at the third annual FREE Atlantic Salt Maritime Festival on Sunday?  TheUS Coast Guard training ship Eagle was a beauty to tour.  It was a pleasure chatting with members of the crew who hail from all over the country. What a noble and terrific way to see the world!  There were plenty of activities for the kids—bouncy house, slides, arts and crafts, paper boat races, free watermelon, ices, hot dogs, cold water, music, dancing, entertainment.  Did you attend the concert “Saluting the Flag in Song and Dance” at St. John’s celebrating the 240th birthday of the U.S. Army ?  And did you fly your American Flag on Sunday, 6/14—Flag Day?  I saw many flags flying and was inspired.  Maybe patriotism and love of our country is returning. …
