Did you purchase a Koi at the Tri-State ZNA Koi Show at Snug Harbor this past weekend?  One of my gentle readers, Cecilia, submitted photos from the show that her daughter took.  Never realized how beautiful these fish are.  Now, if I only had a backyard pond. . .

How many of you attended the Borough President's Summer Concert last Thursday at Wolfe's Pond Park featuring Charlie Poveromo and Vinnie Medugno?  These great voices, introduced by Cousin Brucie, WCBS, entertained their audience with songs from yesteryear, including Humperdinck, Sinatra, Dean Martin, Andy Williams, just to name a few.  If you missed this performance, check it out live on Facebook at the following link:  https://www.facebook.com/VinnieMedugnoOfficial/#

Did you participate in any of the week’s events at the Beach--Ocean Breeze Night Run (http://oceanbreezenyc.org), Boardwalk Days-Give Back Wednesdays (http://www.boardwalkdays.com), Fireworks at South Beach (http://boardwalkdays.com/fireworks) or the concerts (www.boardwalkdays.com)?  What better way is there to stay cool than at the Beach?  I hope your 4th of July holiday was fun, the fireworks were beautiful but safe and you remembered to use sun screen or lotion.  See below a patriotic house on the North Shore with flags a-flying and the monument to our New Brighton WW II servicemen killed in action at the corner of Brighton and Lafayette Avenues.

Wadsworth, some with walkers, some with wheel chairs.  After a few hours of waiting, they left without seeing one ship but literally exercised while waiting, doing tai chi (put me to shame!) and enjoyed the fresh air.  The first ship of the “Parade” arrived around noon.

Touring the ships the next day was neat!

The Memorial Day Parade took place on Monday. The weather was threatening torrential rain, but the sun shone beautifully shortly…

How many of you saw “Star Wars:  The Force Awakens”?  Did you go to Star Wars Trivia Night at the Liberty Tavern or a tree lighting or Interfaith Prayer Group or Lessons and Carols at St. Paul’s Memorial Episcopal Church or gather donate toys, food and/or clothes to the clothing drive at the Joan & Alan Bernikow Jewish Community Center?  Whatever you did last week, this week try not to lose it--your patience with friends or family or that stranger who cut you off in the Mall parking lot, your nerve with telling someone you love them or your mind with all the details of putting together a holiday feast.  Please remember that not everyone is making plans to celebrate.  Some have experienced loss or are ill and can use an invitation to go out for coffee or…
