There was a lot of dancing going on at the Free concert on Saturday night and so much singing along with the hits from the 50'2 and 60's.  Frank James, The Expressions and Vito Picone and the Elegants entertained the crowd at the Freedom Circle in Midland Beach until late into the evening.  The fireworks display was the topping on the cake.  I was fortunate enough to be in the first row!  (Recognize anyone in picture?)  How is that for royal treatment?  Did you volunteer at the Forest Restoration Workshop at the Egbertville Ravine on Saturday or join in the Stargazing at Great Kills Park?

Boogie Woogie Wednesday is today at 5 at the Staten Island Children’s Museum 1000 Richmond Terr.  Sponsored in part by NYC Councilman Matteo and Dunkin Donuts, the Museum re-opens for free beginning at 5 p.m., offers a free snack at 6, and the dancing begins at 7. After a few minutes of instruction, everyone is invited to get up and boogie.  Lots of fun for all! 

Tonight,Wednesday at 7:30, enjoy Movies under the Stars sponsored by the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment.  “Annie” will be screened at Faber Park, Richmond Terr .to Kill Van Kull, Faber St. 

The Borough President’s FREE concert, featuring Joan Cadell and the Midnight Choir and the London Fogg takes place Thursday, 8/20 at 7 in Willowbrook Park, Eton Pl.

Are you looking to get out of the heat and take in some art exhibits on our fair Island?  Following are a few I am certain you will enjoy.  

"Divine Feminine", an exhibit that includes the work of seven female artists exploring concepts of the goddess can be seen through 9/4 at Hub 17, 73 Wave St.The Gallery is open Tuesdays, Thursdays from noon-7 and Sundays from noon-6.  

The “Green” Photography Exhibit begins 8/22 from 1-5 at the CPG Gallery, 814 Richmond Terr., and is open Saturday and Sunday 1-5.  

Visit the Newhouse Gallery for Contemporary Art in Snug Harbor Cultural Center, Building C, 1000 Richmond Terr. The new exhibit Fluid 2015 begins 8/20 and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10-5.  

The “Civil War Pinhole Project Photographs” by Michael Falco can be viewed at the Staten Island Museum, 75 Stuyvesant Pl. from Monday-Friday from 11-5, Saturday 10-5, Sunday 12-5. 

The “Becoming Clear Comfort:  History of a Landmark” exhibit runs from 11-5 at the Alice Austen House Museum. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11-5.
