Did any of my gentle readers attend the Tavern Concerts at Historic Richmond Town?  Stay tuned for the jug band playing this weekend!  How about the Staten Island OutLOUD presentation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s "The Ice Palace" at Fort Wadsworth? Don’t forget to put the Borough President’s Borough Hall OPEN HOUSE “Direct Connect Sunday” on your list of things to do on Sunday, 1/31 from noon to 3.

The LEGO Americana Roadshow, an educational and FREE traveling installation of LEGO replicas, is at the Staten Island Mall.  Throughout the Mall you will see replicas of The White House, Independence Hall, the Capitol Building, the Supreme Court Building, the Washington Monument and much more.  Exhibition hours are Monday through Saturday from 10-9 and Sunday from 11-6 and will remain on display through 1/31.

Are you shivering in this bone-chilling weather?  If you have a new or gently used, clean coat, the Young Democrats at Richmond County have teamed with Assemblyman Matt Titone and Where-to-Turn to collect coats for the needy.  They can be dropped off at Titone’s office at 853 Forest Ave. through 1/30 Monday through Friday, 10-4.  Where-to-Turn volunteers will be distributing them.  For info or to volunteer, contact Dominick DeRubbio at Dominick.derubbio@gmail.com.

B.U.I.L.D. Staten Island, an affiliate of Youth Build USA, is introducing a program to bring education, job training, leadership and service to the borough’s young adults. The program, geared toward ages 18 to 21, aims to provide out-of-school youth with needed personal resources, tools and opportunities to become self-sufficient, responsible and productive citizens. Interviews are being conducted through Saturday, noon to 2 at 53 Broad St.  For info on applications and required documents, e-mail buildsi@historictappenpark.com, call 346-6950-1920 or visit http://www.historictappenpark.com/build-required-documents-applicants.

Attend an Ecumenical Prayer Service for Christian Unity on Thursday, 1/21 at 7 at Zion Lutheran Church, 505 Watchogue Rd.  Bishop John O’Hara, Episcopal Vicar of Staten Island will preach.  Refreshments will follow the service.  For more information, call 718-761-6782 or email sicoc@nyc.twcbc.com

Have you visited the new Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex yet?  On Thursday at 7, attend a Public Meeting to learn more about the Staten Island's Shoreline Parks Plan for the redevelopment of the eastern shore of Staten Island.

A Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Program, celebrating diversity and inclusion, food drive, creative arts contest for children, and much more will be held on Friday 1/22 at 1 at Staten Island University Hospital, 475 Seaview Ave.  For more info, visit http://DIHL@northwell.com

Community members are invited to celebrate Staten Island artists by sitting down and breaking bread with them at  “Afternoon of Staten Island Artists”, Faber Park, 2178 Richmond Terr. on Saturday, 1/23 at 2. People interested in attending are encouraged to contribute to the finger-food potluck in lieu of a ticket fee all while enjoying performances and work on display by 2016 DCA and NYSCA grantees.  Call 347 739-0947 for info.

The Wahoo Skiffle Crazies, Staten Island’s Premier Jug Band, will entertain you at the Tavern Concerts at Historic Richmond Town, 441 Clarke Ave. on Saturday, 1/23 at 6 and 8.  Call 718-351-1611 for more info.  Get tickets for this weekend’s concert at http://www.historicrichmondtown.org/tavern-concerts.
