Another snowy week embraces Staten Island and the Northeast (How many weeks has it been?), and we look for ways to enjoy life and stop kvetching about the weather!  I stopped in to visit my friends at Wicked Stitches at 840 Castleton Ave. in West Brighton during a brutally cold day.

These two charming ladies, Nancy Nix and Carolyn Buckheit, welcome their customers as friends.  Are you looking for a unique anniversary gift? Wicked Stitches should be your first stop.  How about a wedding gift, birthday, bridal party, house warming gift?  You will find it at Wicked Stitches.  They custom embroider every gift.  You will see sweatshirts with neighborhood names embroidered on them.  Who isn’t proud of their neighborhood?  Westerleigh, New Brighton, South Beach, Annadale, Tottenville, West Brighton, Silver Lake.  School sports teams are another popular gift.  What about a Closing gift for your client.  (Yes, I’m talking to you, my fellow real estate brokers!)

Valentine’s Day is over, but gifts for the love of your life embroidered with a special message created by you will be unforgettable.

I particularly like the gift basket with His and Her p.j.s entitled “JUST MARRIED Jude & Michelle – DO NOT DISTURB”.  Great wedding gift!  Pillows saying “You Had Me At Meow”, “Love At First Purr” are other favorites.

St. Patrick’s Day is coming, and we all know what happens in West Brighton on Forest Avenue--the St. Patrick’s Day Parade (this year on March 1st)!  Many families host St. Patrick’s Day parties, breakfasts, lunches, dinners.  Check out the hats that say, “100% Irish” or “3/4 Irish” or green West Brighton hoodies and T-shirts.  Bring a hostess gift to your friends that day.  They will cherish it!

Easter, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, showers, weddings are approaching.  Make Wicked Stitches your shop of choice.

The process is easy.  Sit at the counter in comfortable chairs to leisurely look at everything these women have to offer.  On the back wall behind the counter are spools of every imaginable color lined up on shelves, and racks of beautiful colorful, decorative ribbons hang down to lure the imagination.  Nancy and Carolyn will embroider anything you can imagine.  If you don’t see what you want or have your own idea, it will be designed for you.  Their creations are endless.
